Coating Applications EPDM, BUR, METAL

Skylite Construction LLC.

Offering Various Coatings
Skylight Construction L.L.C. offers various coatings to protect and extend the life of existing roof substrates, such as; EPDM, BUR, Bitumins and all metal surfaces.

Application over build-up

We are committed to the preservation of existing substrates by adding specified coatings that withstand the elements mother nature dishes out. ONE major benefit is the added UV protection.

Added Benefits
- LOWER ROOF TEMPERATURES - Highly reflective white coatings reflect up to 90+% of the sun's radiant heat, dramatically lowering the temperature of the underlying roof substrate and preventing further degradation.
- LOWER INTERIOR TEMPERATURES - Since most of the Sun's radiant heat is reflected rather than absorbed into the roof substrate, interior temperatures are reduced dramatically.
- SUSTAINABLE - Roof coating systems require very low maintenance. Through periodic recoating, the elastomeric coating systems can be extended to last the life of the building.
- INDEPENDENT TEST DOCUMENTATION - Numerous case studies by organizations such as the U.S. Department of Energy, Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory, the Florida Solar Energy Center, Tennessee Valley Authority and the Roof Consultants Institute have verified the advantages obtained through the use of reflective coatings systems..
- APPLICATION VERSATILITY - Skylight Construction coating application can be applied to virtually any new or existing roof substrate. The life of built-up, modified bitumen, metal, Hypalon, EPDM, concrete, transite, sprayed in place polyurethane or board-stock insulation, and composite shingle roofs can all be extended dramatically with the application of the specified coating.
Metal Roof Substrates
As metal roofs age they become more susceptible to corrosion, normally beginning at the seams and spreading throughout the panel. As gaskets degrade around the fastners and come loose, allowing additional deflection between panels, leaks begin to occur. The ROOF MATE System includes primers for inhibiting the spread of rust, as well as several options on sealing fasteners and reinforcing seams. Reinforcement methods include polyester fabric, self-adhesive butyl-backed fabric and discs, or fabric-free mastic systems.
Built-up & Modified Bitumen Roof Substrates
Exterior weather conditions are especially harmful to asphalt-based substrates such as built-up roofing and modified bitumen. Ultraviolet rays and heat dry out the asphaltic oils, while hot and cold temperature extremes induce cracking, crazing, seam splits and alligatoring. The ROOF MATE System prevents further degradation by isolating the roof substrate from the debilitating effects of UV light and moisture. The system includes a bleed-blocking basecoat as well as appropriate reinforcement materials for treating splits, flahings, drains and other detail areas. Severely deteriorated roofs can be treated with full fabric reinforcement.
Single Ply Roof Substrates
Single-ply membranes, such as EPDM, Hypalon, PVC, Neoprene, CSPE, CPE, NBP and TPO all eventually succumb to the effects of extended exposure to the elements. These effects typically manifest themselves through degradation of the surface as it begins to oxidize, check and craze. Seams, whether heat-welded or glued, also eventually begin to come apart, allowing water intrusion beneath the membrane. ROOFf MATE, applied directly over these single-ply substrates, eliminates the need to tear off and /or reapply another single-ply sheet. By incorporating primers and reinforcement as necessary, the ROOF MATE System effectively restores the membrane to its original watertight condition, while its permanent flexibility allows the elastomeric membrane to expand and contract with movement of the roof.
Other Roof Substrates
Concrete, transite, wood and composite shingles have also proven to be excellent candidates for application of the ROOF MATE Roof Preservation System. Contact UNITED'S Technical Service Department or your local Representative for specification assistance on any type of unusual or challenging roof coating requirement you might have. Chances are, we have a system designed to effictively extend the life of your particular roof substrate. ROOF MATE by UNITED COATINGS...Longevity By Design.
